Analysis Adria’s team of service engineers successfully installed the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Exploris 240 mass spectrometer at the Jožef Stefan Institute, Department of Environmental Sciences. The new Orbitrap is coupled with a high-performance liquid chromatograph. From one analysis, which takes about 10 minutes, the new device will be able to obtain data on thousands of different molecules at the same time. The new equipment will, among other things, enable more effective research into harmful compounds that we are exposed to through air, water and food, and that cause, for example, hormonal disorders, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid diseases, type 1 diabetes, asthma and allergies. or affect the development of cancer. With the new mass spectrometer, they will also be able to research sensitivity to the anticancer drug bleomycin.
