Installation of the first ever Orbitrap Exploris 240 MS in Serbia and the region

It is our great pleasure to announce that the first ever orbitrap Exploris 240 MS has been installed in Serbia (and the whole region) at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade! And guess what – we had lots of fun during the process!

Coupled with Nano-HPLC, this high-resolution, accurate-mass (HRAM) mass spectrometer will be used by the group of Prof. Tanja Ćirković Veličković, in order to shed the light on the world of proteomics and provide valuable tools to help us develop more sensitive sarscov2 detection assays. Moreover, the group will be researching into the impact and toxicity of micro- and nanoplastics, the topics which have lately captured the interest of the scientific community.

“Orbitrap Exploris 240 MS is a new, state-of-the-art instrument in our proteomics laboratory, acquired partly from the CAPSIDO project of the Science Fund of the RS. It is already up and running and generating valuable results for our ongoing projects (Horizon2020 Foodentwin, Horizon2020 IMPTOX, CAPSIDO project of the Science Fund of the RS, ShellPCR project of the Science Fund of the RS, as well as UNDP/USAID financed project on Sustainable production of SARS CoV-2 serological tests in Serbia). This device will be indispensable to all researchers in need of high-quality proteomics data in a wide range of research fields needing advanced protein analysis. In addition to employing the device in the ongoing projects on the SARS CoV-2 antigens characterization, new assay development, micro- and nanoplastics interactions with the relevant food and environmental proteins, we hope that wider range of state-of-the-art applications will be explored in near future, also through collaboration with a wide network of our collaborators from the country and abroad.”, says Prof. Ćirković Veličković.
